A USA-based Ghanaian has been shot dead by armed robbers at Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
The deceased identified as Eric Acheampong, 58 returned to the country some three weeks ago from New York in the United States of America (USA) for holiday but met his untimely death after being attacked and shot at close range by the robbers.
Police in the area reveal that the deceased had gone to clear his vehicle from Tema and was on his way when he ran into the robbers who had earlier attacked a Frontier fuel station. They opened fire on him and killed him instantly leaving the vehicle with bullet holes.
The body has since been deposited at the St. Patrick’s hospital morgue at Offinso pending autopsy while the police have obtained Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene to assist with investigations.
Police indicate that nothing was taken from the suspect as an undisclosed amount and the unregistered Toyota Highlander was not taken from him.
