[VIDEO] Has he told you he was kicked out from office? – NPP MP quizzes Yaa Titi on Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation
Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament for Akyim Oda, has debunked allegations that Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu resigned as Majority Leader because he was forced to.
Mr. Kyei-Menaah-Bonsu, whilst tendering in his resignation, according to the Akyim Oda MP, said, “I voluntarily want to step down so I concentrate on other things”, therefore making claims that he was kicked out from office a fallacy.
According to Mr. Akwasi Acquah, the Suame MP resigned as Leader of the Majority in Parliament due to his appointment as Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 Manifesto Committee.
Following a controversy over his position in the caucus and rumours of imminent changes that made waves on social media, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu had to tender in his resignation in a meeting with President Akufo-Addo and the National Council of the New Patriotic Party.
Following his resignation, the NPP released its manifesto team with Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as Chairman.
Despite many attributing the Suame MP’s resignation to the pressure that emanated from within the party, Mr. Akwasi Acquah holds that, but for the task ahead in drafting the manifesto, there is no way the man with over 27 years experience in Parliamentary affairs would have resigned.
Speaking with Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua FM’s afternoon political show, Pae Mu Ka, Thursday, February 22, 2024, the MP asked the host if Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has told her he was forced out of office when quizzed about the voluntariness of his resignation.
