Egypt and Mozambique played a pulsating 2-2 draw in the first match of Group at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt looked on course for a routine victory when Mostafa Mohamed put the Pharaohs ahead after just 89 seconds.

He finished off a failed Mohammed Salah attempt in what was Egypt’s first attack.

Egypt looked to be in control of the match until disaster struck ten minutes after restart.

First Witness Quembo was allowed time and space in the penalty box and he made no mistake with a firm header in the 55th minute.

Three minutes later, Palmirim David Baúque completed the turnaround when he finished off a counter break with a shot that sneaked in underneath El Shenawy.

Egypts blushes were spared when the Video Assistant Referee intervened to award a stoppage time penalty for a foul on Omar Marmoush.

Egypt captain Mohammed Salah stepped up and fired home the leveler, rescuing a point for the record holders of the competition.
