West Ham United may be the worst hit of the clubs losing key players to the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The East London club will lose three key players; Nayef Aguerd to Morocco, Said Benrahma to Algeria, and most important of all, Mohammed Kudus to Ghana.
The Ghanaian international has worked his way into becoming one of West Ham’s best players, scoring nine goals in all competitions in half a season. The Black Stars forward has already established a strong partnership with Brazilian teammate Lucas Paqueta.
The pair were instrumental as West Ham beat Manchester United and Arsenal 2-0 in December.
Thursday’s victory over Arsenal meant West Ham United are now up to 6th on the Premier League table with 33 points, four behind fourth placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
However, all their good work could be undone with the exit of Mohammed Kudus to the African Cup of Nations.
The Ghanaian international will join his Black Stars teammates for Ghana’s pre-tournament camp in Kumasi on December 31, 2023.
He will therefore be unavailable when West Ham face 8th placed Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Here is the full list if matches Kudus will miss in January 2024.
