On July 1, 2022, M. Elizabeth “Liz” Magill took office as the University of Pennsylvania’s ninth president.
Magill was a successful leader who previously served as the Richard E. Lang Professor and Dean of the Stanford Law School, Executive Vice President, and Provost of the University of Virginia. Her expertise in law is well known.
Magill actively participates in the Philadelphia community outside of her academic work by joining important organizations.
During her time at UVA, she has made good progress in managing research and teaching activities, directing diverse school dean recruiting, updating the budget system, and leading programs for research impact.
