New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate elect for the Ablekuma North Constituency Nana Akua Afriyie has called on Sheila Bartels to partner with her to enable the NPP to retain the Parliamentary seat in this year’s General Elections after defeating her in the NPP Parliamentary primaries held today.

Akua Afriyie defeated Sheila Bartels, who is the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for the Constituency, by obtaining 756 votes out of a total of 1,393 valid votes cast, leaving 637 votes for Sheila Bartels.

In an interview, after she was announced the winner of the parliamentary primary election, Nana Afua Afriyie appealed to Sheila Bartels to quickly get over her defeat and join her campaign so that she can retain the seat for the NPP, stressing that she has merely done what Sheila Bartels did to her in 2020 when she unseated her.

“You do me, I do you no be problem. So come and let’s work together to win the seat,” she said in Twi.

In 2016, Nana Akua Afriyie won the Parliamentary seat for the NPP. But in 2020, Sheila Bartels defeated her in the NPP Parliamentary primaries and went on to win the seat for the NPP.
