Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new deal with the club until June 2026.
This ends months of speculation of a potential move to become Brazil’s manager.
The 64-year-old Italian returned to the Santiago Bernabeu for a second stint after signing an initial three-year contract in July 2021.
The new contract, while securing an elite manager for Real Madrid, is also a form of Madrid’s appreciation for an immensely successful coach. The Italian has won 10 titles as Real Madrid manager. These include two UEFA Champions Leagues, one La Liga title, two Copas del Rey, two Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, and the Spanish Super Cup once.
In Ancelotti’s first stint between 2013 and 2015, he won La Decima – Real Madrid’s elusive tenth Champions League trophy.
He returned for a second spell in charge, replacing Zinedine Zidane, after leaving Premier League club Everton in June 2021.
Ancelotti is the only coach to have won four European Cups, while he is also the first to win all five major European leagues in Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain.
Ancelotti’s Madrid are currently top of La Liga after 18 matches and remain in all European and domestic cup competitions.
