Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Bekwai Constituency COP Alex Mensah (Rtd) has denied ever accusing Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of bribing NPP delegates in the Bekwai Constituency to vote for his preferred candidate in the upcoming Parliamentary primaries of the NPP.

COP Alex Mensah (RTD), who is running for the position against three other aspirants stressed that he is not the source of the accusation and that the source is an audio recording of persons, who had been allegedly sent by the Vice President to bribe the delegates.

In a press release, the recently retired police officer noted that it is a verifiable fact that the driver of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Inspector Kwakye and one Nana Osei Afrifa met with NPP delegates and doled out money to them so that they would vote for the Vice President’s preferred candidate, Ralph Opoku-Adusei.

“I hereby further state categorically that the allegation that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia sent the IGP’s driver and Nana Osei Afrifa to pay money to delegates to support Ralph Opoku-Adusei did not emanate from me but was contained in an audio clip which was recorded during a meeting in Bekwai which had the IGP’s driver in attendance,” the press release signed by COP Alex Mensah (Rtd) said.
