VLIR stands for Vlaamse Interuniversitaire Raad (Flemish Interuniversities Council), while UOS represents Universitaire Ontwikkelingssamenwerking (University Development Co-operation). UL has entered into a form of academic cooperation with the Flemish universities of Belgium.

ICPs are international master’s programs focusing on subjects aligned with the principles of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. VLIR-UOS supports the selection of 15 ICPs and provides 10 freshman scholarships annually for each ICP.
International students from the list of countries around the world are invited to apply for the VLIR-UOS ICP Scholarship in Belgium to study different courses in the 2023/2024 academic year.

Applicants must be international students from one of the following countries: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Indonesia, Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Vietnam, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru, Suriname Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Cambodia.

The scholarship is awarded for a Master of Development Studies. The applicant must be a citizen and resident of one of the eligible countries at the time of application.
The maximum age for applicants to a master’s program is 35 for the initial master’s program and 40 for the advanced master’s program.

Preference will be given to candidates who are working in academia, research institutes, government, socio-economy or NGOs, or who are aiming for a career in one of these fields.

English Language Requirements: International applicants outside of the home country will usually have to meet specific English language requirements to attend the university.
