The Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, has brought attention to the salary of Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He revealed that Dr Owusu-Amoah is the second highest-paid public servant.

During an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Mr George alleged that Dr. Owusu-Amoah receives a salary exceeding GH140,000.

Mr. George referred to the GRA boss as a “living ghost” on the payroll, pointing out that since October 2020, Dr. Owusu-Amoah has not held any contract with the government after reaching retirement age, raising concerns about possible irregularities.

He remarked, “Dr. Ammishaddai is a ghost on the public payroll because he doesn’t have any contract. Can you believe he is the second highest-paid public servant? He is paid every month without a contract. He is simply a living ghost on the payroll.”

At a recent Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sitting, Sam George inquired about the age of the GRA Commissioner-General and accused him of engaging in ‘dubious and unscrupulous’ contracts.

He questioned why Dr. Owusu-Amoah has remained in his position after reaching retirement age, raising further doubts about the circumstances surrounding his continued tenure.
