Tanzania has confirmed the sacking of head coach Adel Amrouche with immediate effect.
The decision follows an 8-match ban imposed by the CAF Disciplinary Committee for comments that bring the image of the sport into disrepute.
Amrouche alleged that Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF), we’re manipulating football on the continent at all levels.
Amrouche said “Currently, the FRMF is a confirmed power in the African football world, in the last match against Morocco, they forced us to play in the evening when we wanted to play in the early afternoon,” in a televised statement to an Algerian TV channel.
After a Disciplinary Committee hearing, CAF determined that Amrouche’s comments breached its regulations and imposed an eight game ban on the coach.
Following CAF’s decision, the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) had no choice than to find an new coach.
It was therefore not surprising when they announced that they had cut ties with their manager.
Hemed Morocco will take interim charge of the Taifa Stars in the remaining group stage matches against Zambia and DR Congo.
He will be assisted by Juma Mgunda.
Tanzania suffered a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in their first Group Match.
