Jordan Ayew scored 94th-minute winner for Ghana in the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifier in a 2-1 victory over Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Jordan Ayew came off the bench to breathe life into the game, which almost looked like ending in a 1-1 stalemate.

In a goal the hosts largely dominated in the first half, the Malians broke the deadlock in added time of the first half when Kamory Doumbia scored the opener, which was the only goal before the break.

The Black Stars returned from the break much more rejuvenated and motivated.

Ernest Nuamah equalized for Otto Addo’s boys with a thumping header and the game all but looked set for a draw.

Coach Otto Addo late in the game brought on Jordan Ayew.

A surge into the left side of the Mali area from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and a cut back was not dealt properly with by the hosts, whose clearance fell to Jordan in the penalty area.

The Crystal Palace man maintained his composure to hit a shot that went through the Malian bodies past their goalie into the net.

As he run off in celebration, teammates on the field joined in as those off the field and members of the technical team invaded the pitch to celebrate a crucial away win.
