Cameroon striker Karl Toko Ekambi has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 32.
Ekambi made the announcement on his official Instagram page on Thursday, ending a nine-year journey with the Cameroon national team.
The French-born Camerounian made his Indomitable Lions debut in 2015 under German coach Volker Finke.
Two years later, he represented Cameroun at the Africa Cup of Nations under the tutelage of Hugo Broos. He played an integral role as Cameorun won their fifth AFCON title.
In a heartfelt statement, Toko Ekambi said he was sorry Cameroun exited the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the round kf 16 stage.
Ekambi also expressed pride in his team’s collective efforts.
Karl Toko Ekambi scored 14 times in 61 appearances for Cameroun between 2015 and 2024.
The former Olympique Lyon striker will now focus on his club career with Al Ettifaq FC in the elite Saudi Arabian League.
