Frank Farian was a German singer and record producer who founded the 1970s disco-pop group Boney M., the Latin pop band No Mercy and the pop band Milli Vanilli.

Frank Farian, born Franz Reuther in 1941, is a German music producer and songwriter who rose to fame in the 1970s and 80s with the disco-pop group Boney M. and the controversial pop duo Milli Vanilli.

Farian’s career began in the early 1960s with his own rock band, Frankie Farian und Die Schatten.

While initial success eluded him, he found his footing in the world of songwriting and producing. His big break came in 1974 when he formed Boney M., a multicultural group known for their infectious dance tracks and reggae-infused sound.

Hits like “Daddy Cool,” “Ma Baker,” and “Rasputin” catapulted the band to international stardom, selling over 80 million records worldwide.
