Former General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, says he thought Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would learn from the struggles of 2020 and cause a change.

However, the president hasn’t made any changes to his government.

“2020, which was a tough one, I was expecting the president to take something out of that and make some major changes but he hasn’t done so.

Recently, I saw the General Secretary telling the President to make some changes to his government,” he said.

He indicated “It is one area I have disagreed publicly with him with respect because I think change is good sometimes. Even in a football game, you can make changes in your strategy. You don’t need to sack people, but when you keep ministers in one location for seven years I’ve said that it’s a novelty. I’ve followed politics and I’ve never seen ministers being kept for that long so I don’t think I would give the President a plus on that.”

Meanwhile, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, who is a cousin to the President, has said that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo believes in the American system of governance, where there is not much reshuffling of ministers and appointees.

He says the president will reshuffle ministers only when he deems it fit to do so after weighing the pros and cons.
