The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) has clarified that there is no power outage timetable otherwise known as Dumsor timetable for the Upper East and North East Regions as reported in the media.

According to the power distributor, an exercise to improve the quality of their network for some areas in the regions is in the often as contained in a public notice which was misconstrued to be ‘Dumsor timetable’.

“It is rather an announcement of maintenance schedule which involves installation of concrete poles to replace sub-standard and defective wooden poles between Navrongo and Sandema. The affected Districts are Builsa South,Builsa North,Moagduri and Chiana,” a statement said in reaction to media reports.

“The management of VRA/NEDco in the Upper East and North East Regions wishes to inform the general public and it cherished customers that there is no such timetable anywhere,” the statement said.

Following an earlier announcement on the planned maintenance work on its lines, media reports suggested the planned outages was the dreaded powered outages popularly called ‘Dumsor’.

“In line with our commitment towards improving power supply reliability in the Upper East Operation Area, VRA/NEDCo is embarking on a project aimed at strengthening the Sandema/Yagaba High Tension Line( Feeder NGYF2). The project involves the installation of concrete poles to replace substandard and defective wood poles between Navrongo and Sandema.

As a consequence, there will be power outages that will affect the following districts in the course of the project implementation. Builsa North, Builsa South, Maoduri and Mankarugu Districts including Chiana,” an earlier statement by NEDCo announced.
