The Bimbilla Constituency Parliamentary Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) together with the Constituency Election Committee and the Regional Vetting Committee, have been summoned by the party to a meeting on Thursday, January 11, 2024, for the determination of the aspirant’s petition.

A statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Prof. Hudu Zakaria read “Following his petition to the General Secretary and the referral of the said petition to the National Appeal Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu has been invited together with the Constituency Election Committee and the Regional Vetting Committee to a meeting on Thursday, January 11, 2024, for the determination of his petition in line with the party’s commitment to fairness and due process”.

According to the statement, the meeting follows the aspirant’s refusal to comply with the Vetting Committee’s directives to repair the Bimbila constituency party office vandalised by his supporters and the completion and signing of section B of his nomination form at the constituency office.

“The decision to summon Alhaji Zaruk to the National Appeal Committee reflects the party’s adherence to democratic principles and its dedication to ensuring that all processes related to the selection of parliamentary candidates are transparent, fair, and in accordance with the party guidelines”.

Prof. Zakaria noted that the party recognizes the importance of resolving the matter efficiently while maintaining the integrity of the nomination processes.

“The hearing by the National Appeal Committee is a crucial step in determining the resolution of Alhaji Zaruk’s petition and his eligibility as a parliamentary candidate”.

“The NPP appreciates the patience and understanding of the party members and the general public as we navigate this situation. We remain committed to upholding the principles of democracy and fair play within our party’s operations”.
