The Northern Regional Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gbewaa, who was arrested in connection with the assault of the the Northern Regional Treasurer of the NDC , Hajia Shamima Yakubu.
The NDC Northern Regional Vice Chairman, was arrested and subsequently arraigned before court and charged by the Northern Regional Police Command.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in Tamale, stormed their Regional party office and locked it up over the arrest of the Northern Regional Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gbewaa.
The NDC supporters locked up the regional and constituency offices in Tamale to register their displeasure about the arrest of their regional vice chairman.
The NDC supporters threatened that there will be no party activity in the region until the regional vice chairman is released.

“We are telling our leadership that if they fail to release our vice chairman they should not dare come to Tamale for any party activity”. They threatened.
It will be recalled that MyNewsGh.com reported that the Northern Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Shamima suffered some facial injuries after allegedly being assaulted by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Northern Regional Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gbewaa.
The incident which occurred at the NDC Regional party Secretariat in Tamale is alleged to be as a result of some monies for party activities.
The Northern Regional Treasurer, has since been treated and discharged from the hospital after she received punches from the chairman in the ensuing melee.
The Northern Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Shamima, has reported the assault at the Northern Regional Police Headquarters who confirmed to MyNewsGh.com that the matter was under investigation.
This is the second time the victim has been assaulted by her own party executives after the First National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Sofo Awudu Azorka, allegedly assaulted her some years ago.
