Professor Ransford Gyampo of the University of Ghana has reportedly been named a Church of Pentecost Elder after suffering a series of controversies in recent times.
The appointment by the Church of Pentecost would go a long way to cleanse the controversial lecturer of damages done him by his past.
Gyampo joins the likes of Philip Osei Bonsu of Asempa FM, IGP Akuffo Dampare and Dr. Siaw Agyapong who are all allegedly elders of the church of Pentecost.
In 2019, Prof Gyampo and Dr Butakor were accused of soliciting for sex in order to extend some advantages to persons posing as female students in a documentary by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
In the documentary produced by the BBC Africa Eye and published on Monday, October 7, 2019, the BBC reported that it has uncovered sexual harassment at the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana with Gyampo named main culprit.
The BBC sent female undercover reporters to the campuses of the two universities where it reported that they were sexually harassed, propositioned and put under pressure by senior lecturers – all the while wearing secret cameras.
Following that, the Gyampo was interdicted by the university.
The University of Ghana suspended Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Butakor for six months and four months respectively for their roles in a sexual harassment scandal which hit the university.
