The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the appointment of Egypt’s Amin Amin Mohammed Omar as the center referee for the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations between Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau.
The 39-year-old is no stranger to big occasions, having officiated at the FIFA™ U-17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019.
His appointment for the tournament came just two years after he was listed as a FIFA referee in 2017.
In 2019, Amin officiated the Group B match between Guinea and Madagascar at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Three years later, Amin Mohammed Omar was chosen to officiate the FIFA World Cup Qualifier between Zimbabwe and Ghana in 2022.
A lawyer by profession, Amin Mohammed Omar first officiated in the Egyptian Premier League in 2013.
The Egyptian will be supported by his Compatriots Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel and Ahmed Hossam Taha. Mahmoud Elbana has also appointed as the VAR referee of the match.
The match between Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 GMT at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpé.
