Former MP for New Juaben North and Chairman of the Council of Elders for the NPP, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can break the eight.

He acknowledges that the political party in the past has made some mistakes but will not repeat itself in the 2024 elections.

Hackman Owusu Agyemang indicated that in 2008, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could have broken the eight-year cycle in Ghana’s political history for political parties, but the party did not have a united front, hence the defeat.

He says that as a political party, many lessons were taken from the defeat, and a repeat will not be allowed going forward.

“Getting a third consecutive…It is absolutely possible. Why not? In the past we made one or two mistakes, and we are not going to repeat those mistakes again.

I remember in 2007, 2008, there was an absolute reason why we should have won but there was a little division amongst our fold, and then we had a problem, but I don’t think this time it’s going to happen because once bitten twice shy, we have to learn our lesson. If we don’t learn any lesson as a political party then perhaps we must not even exist. We are going to make sure breaking the eight as they say happens,” he said while speaking to the media after casting his ballot in the ongoing NPP Primaries in New Juaben North constituency.
