Confusion has characterized the collation of election results in the Yendi Constituency of the Northern Region as irate New Patriotic Party(NPP) ransacked the venue and destroyed ballot papers.

Voting had gone on peacefully but during sorting, an official of the Electoral Commission was accused of concealing some thumb-printed ballot papers.

Supporters of one of the candidates pounced on him and in the process destroyed voting materials as well as vandalized properties at the scene.

The incumbent Member of Parliament(MP) for the Yendi constituency, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama is being contested by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for MASLOC, Mrs. Abibata Shanni Zakariah Mahama, to represent the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the 2024 general elections.
