NPP MP drags Citi FM reporter to court over assault allegations

[ad_1]

Alhaji Umar Farouk Aliu Mahama, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament representing the Yendi constituency in the Northern region, has refuted allegations of assault levelled against him by Citi TV/FM correspondent Mohammed Aminu M. Alabira.

Farouk Mahama has declared his intention to take legal action against Alabira, stating that the accusation has severely damaged his reputation.

In response to the accusations, Farouk Mahama vehemently denied any physical altercation with Mohammed Alabira, emphasizing that the presence of numerous media personnel during the incident contradicts the notion that he singled out Alabira.

He firmly stated his innocence, highlighting that he had instructed his legal team to pursue defamation charges against Alabira.

Farouk Mahama’s frustration stems from a complaint filed by Mohammed Alabira at the Yendi Divisional Police Command, alleging assault during the NPP primaries over the weekend.

Contrary to Alabira’s account, Farouk Mahama asserted that he was not present at the scene in question.
