The German Football Federation has sanctioned Union Berlin manager Nenad Bjelica for his part in a physical altercation with Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.

Bjelica has been given a three-game ban for shoving Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane in the face during a Bundesliga match.

He will also pay a fine of 25,000 Euros to the Association who say he demonstrated “unsporting behaviour”.The incident occurred in the 74th minute of Wednesday’s defeat to Bayern.

Sane and Bjelica clashed on the touchline

The pair clashed when Sane tried to retrieve the ball from Bjelica on the touchline.The Croatian was sent off after raising his hands twice to Sane’s face before pushing him away.

The fifty-two year-old who was appointed as head coach of Union Berlin in November 2023 will miss the Bundesliga games against Darmstadt, RB Leipzig and Mainz following the ban.

Union, who finished fourth last season, are 15th and just three points clear of the relegation play-off spot.

Bayern are second, four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, after winning Wednesday’s game 1-0.
